Expect our
staff to be communicating with you about your choice of clothing prior to your session. Most often, neutral
colors are best. Earth tones or soft pastels photograph
beautifully. Avoid patterns (no
stripes, plaid, bold patterns of any kind). It is typically best to keep your tops and bottoms of similar tone.
For example, a light colored shirt is better with khaki than with black. If you're just not sure, feel free to bring several outfit changes and we can narrow it down to one or two outfits when you arrive for your session.
Iron your clothing, please. Feel free to bring shoes to match your outfits. I prefer to photograph
young children without shoes when possible. Bare feet look much nicer than the bottoms of shoes.
I prefer to photograph babies
tastefully, without clothing until around nine or ten months. I
find that newborns, particularly, tend to be engulfed by clothing,
distracting from the natural beauty of the child. I will, of
course, accommodate those parents who don't care to have their child
photographed without clothing. In this case, be sure to choose
well fitting clothing that is solid and neutral in color. Soft pastels
work best. |
Once camera time starts, I find it very important to take the emphasis off of the camera and ask parents never to
tell your child to look at the camera and smile. Children smile naturally when they are having fun, so I make every effort to keep
a lighthearted and low pressure atmosphere. Parents are to refrain from speaking during the session.
If I want your child to look at the camera, I will draw his
attention to me. If you are talking to him and instructing him
as what to do, I am not able to connect with him as I need to. |
